Here’s something that may shock you: if your body is happy and safe, FAT LOSS WILL BE EASY. Ok, maybe not easy...you’ll still have to eat in a caloric deficit and put in the work. But when you put in that work fat loss should happen. So if you are dieting and busting your ass in the gym and still aren’t seeing progress, keep reading 👇🏼
If your body isn’t in a place where it feels safe, it will fight you hard if you’re trying to lose body fat. If this is the case, you can keep spinning your wheels all you want but your progress will be minimal. Here are some scenarios that may have your body in fat loss fighting mode.
▪️CHRONIC DIETING: you can’t live in a caloric deficit forever. Hormone shifts and metabolic adaptations from dieting for too long will halt progress. While everybody is different, if you’ve been dieting for more that 12 weeks you may start to run into some issues.
▪️EXCESSIVE CARDIO OR OVERTRAINING: overtraining, not prioritizing recovery, and doing too much cardio are all culprits.
▪️HORMONE IMBALANCE: your hormones regulate just about everything in your body. Unbalanced and unhappy hormones will make fat loss extra difficult. Hormone imbalance also goes hand in hand with gut health and digestive issues.
▪️STRESS OR POOR SLEEP
So what do you do if think one or more of these things may be your issue? Change your goal. It’s hard to hear when you have a fat loss goal but you may need to focus on the health of your body first and then tackle the fat loss once your body is in a better place!
